The Starling at Pond Eddy can accommodate visitors from weekenders looking to get away from the City for a short jaunt to extended-stay guests and groups looking to celebrate a special occasion or book a private retreat. Our Riverhouse & Cottage are available to rent year-round and we encourage visitors to explore the grounds or enjoy attractions like eagle watching on the Hawk's Nest, tubing down the river or thrifting at local antique shops. With numerous scenic overlooks, historic architecture, and bucolic views of the river, The Starling at Pond Eddy is at the heart of your Catskills experience.
RICH WITH HISTORY
Pond Eddy is a burgeoning community rich with history. Its location on the Delaware River played an instrumental role during the days of the D + H Canal, where coal transporters would frequent riverside businesses -- like the original Maney's General Store on the ground floor of the property -- as they made the voyage from rural coalfields to central market hubs. In the last several years the area around Pond Eddy has undergone a good deal of development and small business growth as well, melding both new and old structures into the framework that’s making up the revived Lower Catskills.
AN EASY ESCAPE
Pond Eddy is a hamlet of Sullivan County, NY, and our property is conveniently located off NY State 97. We are less than a two hour drive from the New York City metropolitan area and accessible by train (the MTA Metro-North Port Jervis station is only a short 15 minute taxi ride from the property). Although The Starling at Pond Eddy retains much of its late 1800’s historic charm, the buildings have been upgraded with modern amenities like central air conditioning and heat. The Cottage and The Apartment also have wood burning stoves for the cooler weather months.
